What is #YangGang?
Hashang #YangGang is used to express the support of Democratic candidate 2020 Andrew Yang.
The 44-year-old Asian American businessman announced his candidacy on November 6, 2017, and his relatively unconventional plan attracted many young voters. His main reason is the creation of a free bonus, a global basic income that earns $1,000 per adult per month.
Yang is a successful technology entrepreneur who believes that the emergence of artificial intelligence and automation has made universally necessary income a necessity.
"New technologies - robotics, software, artificial intelligence - have destroyed more than 4 million jobs in the US, and will spend millions in the next five to ten," Yang said. “One-third of American workers are at risk of permanent unemployment, and this time, jobs will not return.”
Yang said he will pay a free dividend by imposing a new tax on automakers. He confirmed that his plan would increase the US workforce by 4.5 million to 5 million and the economic growth rate to 13%. It also supports the establishment of a federal department to organize social media to provide medical services to all and other free sites.
Yang has no political experience, but founded Venture for America, an entrepreneurship scholarship program, and some voters appreciate his "exotic" approach.
"In the case of the federation, I will be the first president to use PowerPoint," he said at a rally.
Some people think that #YangGang is a reaction to the Bernie brothers, who are prominent supporters of Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. Although Yang is seen as a stranger in the Democratic primary, the movement's large presence on social media seems to be increasingly popular with younger people who have emerged as newcomers to Joe Rogan's experience.
“They think I am a person who understands them more than most mainstream politicians,” said Yang, his young high-tech base. "I just think there is a fusion because I am also a player."
