What is the best day for April Fool's Day ?

It depends on the type of prank that appeals to you, but in 2019 there are many good examples.

On April Fool's Day, companies often promote stunt products through social media, hoping to attract consumers' attention (to capture very little virality along the way). Of course, some people are more successful than others.

This year, the Tinder dating site sparked controversy by offering a new "height badge." Idea: Get rid of users who are lied to the length.

“This is the tool we used in the back pocket for years, but we hope that your honesty will allow us to keep it there,” the company wrote on its blog when it announced the feature. “Our verification tools are very easy to use and hard to abuse.”

Other mischiefs are clearer. In the UK, McDonald's has announced a “milk sauce bowl” that will allow customers to cover French fries with scented milk.

Google is known for launching April Fool's Day jokes and this year launched one of the most useful and boring jokes.

“Over time, humans have created more effective ways to connect with each other,” wrote Google factory engineer Matthew Figel on the company’s official product blog. “But this technology is not made with flowers, although it is no secret that the flower shops talk to each other.”

Feigal wrote: "Because of the tremendous advances in artificial intelligence, Google Home can now understand lily, allowing translation between topologies and dozens of human languages."

Developed in the Netherlands, the product produces 12.5 billion flowers a year, allowing flowers to ask the owner for more water, nutrients or sunlight. Google Home users can activate (very fake) features by saying "Hey, Google, talking to Lavender."

The company also announced a new "screen cleaning" feature for the Google Docs app (available on Android). It is said that this function can use the "tactile micro-motion generator" to "clean the stain and polish the screen". Of course, this is not the case for many Android users.

Hundreds of other major brands have posted scams on April Fool's Day, some of which are a bit disgusting. FreshDirect announces the launch of the world's first commercial cauliflower Caulk.

“It’s much better than trying to make broccoli,” says a happy (but fake) customer.

Another wrote: "Finally, a lot of milk is full of morning coffee."

But if you like more traditional practical jokes, you might admire the spoof pranks from St. Ann Elementary School in Ormskirk, England: the teacher gave the third graders the impossible words.

“How long should I ask them to find words that don’t exist?” The coach wrote about the meaning of social networking and the confusion of several schoolchildren. The school has caused rapid attention from traditional media such as the Guardian and the BBC1.

For our money, Sheng’an’s primary school won. Although April Fool's Day is very interesting for corporate jokes, we believe that classic pranks are more in line with the spirit of the holiday - which is certainly more entertaining.
